Thank you for your kind letter of December 31, 1997 informing me
about the setting up of the World Punjabi Organization
which is being formally launched in Delhi on 10th January, 1998 by the Hon'ble Prime
Minister Shri I. K. Gujral. I am happy to note that a person of your
caliber, experience
and leadership qualities will be heading this new organization.
Punjabi have distinguished themselves by their traits of
broad-mindedness, capacity for hard work, generosity and spirit of Service and tolerance
towards all human beings,. They are known for sharing the fruits of their labours with
their fellow-men and for helping needy persons in distress in a self-less manner. They
have served our great nation, India, gallantly and energetically, both in peace and war.
It is in keeping with my commitment to the role so ably discharged
by the Punjabis in take past and which will no doubt continue to be fulfilled eminently in
the future, that I am glad to accept your kind invitation to become the Patron of this
Organization.
