ACTIVITIES OF WPO
Keeping in view the above objectives WPO announced the following activities during 1998

Celebration of Lohri Festival where famous Punjabi singer Malkit Singh performed with his troupe from London.

Undertaking trip of renowned Punjabis from all walks of life like industrialists, journalists, sports men, artists etc. to Pakistan during Basant and visit of holy shrines and have meeting with Chamber of Commerce and to call on Shri Nawaz Sharif, Hon'ble Prime Minister of Pakistan and to participate in the Basant festivities at Lahore.

WPO members hosted lunch in honour of newly elected Punjabi Parliamentarians and met and congratulated Hon'ble Prime Minster Sh. Atal Behari Vajpayee and other patrons of WPO who have become cabinet ministers like Sh. S. S. Barnala, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Sh. Madan Lal Khurana.

Organised musical ballet 'Heer Ranjha' performed by 23 artists from Abhinaya drama & dance co. Scotland U.K.

Baisaki celebrations and cultural programme by renowned Punjabi artists form Pakistan and India followed by folk dances of Gidha and Bhangra at Siri Fort Auditorium on April 13th 1998.

Cricket Training Camp for Punjabi students during May-June 1998 under the coaching of Sr. Bishen Singh Bedi, famous World Cricketer.

To organise blood donation camp and collect blood for needy patients.

To celebrate Maharaja Ranjit Singh day and to organise various cultural shows and seminars to promote rich Punjabi culture, folk and language.

Launching WPO web site on internet with full details of members to facilitate interaction among Punjabis staying world wide.

To give scholarships to deserving and economically weak Punjabi students from class X onwards till completion of higher education.
