World Punjabi Organisation organised a dinner reception in honour of its
International President, Sr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, on being
honoured with the award of “Padma Shri” by the President of India for
his outstanding and dedicated service to the nation in the field of
Social Service, on 6th June, 08 at Hotel Le-Meridien.
A large number of dignitaries to include Smt. Sushma Swaraj-MP, Sr. M.S.
Gill- Union minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sr. S.S. Dhindsa-MP,
Sr. Tarlochan Singh-MP, Sr. S.S. Ahluwalia-MP, Sr. Onkar Singh Kanwar-
Chairman Apollo tyres, Sr. Joginder Singh- Former Director CBI, Sh.
Pankaj Paul- Managing Editor Hindustan Times, Tanveer Afzal- Ist
Secretary (Pak Embassy), graced the event. Surjit Singh- President WPO
Abu Dhabi and Raj Loomba-Patron WPO UK made special efforts to come all
the way to Delhi to join the celebrations.
On behalf of WPO Sr. M.S. Gill and Smt. Sushma Swaraj presented a memento to Sr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney for his outstanding contribution to society. Sr. M.S. Gill, while expressing his views said “Vikramjit Sahney has played an important role in developing and promoting good relations with Pakistan”. Smt. Sushma Swaraj complimented Sr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney for his down to earth approach in his life towards the upliftment of the downtrodden for which he very rightly deserved the award given to him.
